Ocracoke Current Events 10/13/14
Each year, Ocracoke School celebrates the week before Homecoming with themed days for the students and staff to enjoy.
This year, Monday is Wear-your-pajamas-to-school day, Tuesday is color day (Pre-K – 5 students wear red; middle school kids wear purple; high schoolers wear blue; and the staff wears black), Wednesday is wacky-tacky, Thursday is retro day (pick your favorite decade and dress like it!), and, as always, Friday is Dolphin Day!
Friday is Homecoming! Starting at 5:30pm, there will be a coed Middle School basketball game.
Homecoming Court will begin at 7pm, followed a basketball game of High School boys vs. the faculty and coaches.
Pizza and BBQ sandwiches will be for sale from 5 –7pm.
Admission is $3 students and $5 adults. All are welcome! Come out and have a great time!

Ocracoke Health Center is sponsoring Health Fair on October 18th, 9am – 2pm at the Fire Hall
All are welcome to this free event!

Ocracoke Preservation Society Volunteer Reception, 5 – 7pm.
If you’ve helped out at OPS at all this year, please stop by, enjoy some refreshments, and visit with your fellow volunteers!
OCC Kids Movie Night, 6:30 pm at Deepwater Theater. The feature film will be Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who, with Jim Carrey. Suggested donation is $10, which includes popcorn, drink, candy and a raffle ticket!
Looking ahead to next week and beyond….
UPDATE: The monthly meeting with the NCDOT Ferry Division is Monday, October 20th at 1pm at the Methodist Church Rec Hall.
On Friday, October 24th, Ocracoke School will have its annual Halloween Carnival, starting with the costume parade at 3pm.
Volunteers are needed! Contact PTA president Ivey Belch at 921-0021 if you want to help with carnival games, hot dog sales, the cake walk, the costume parade, and/or the ever-popular Quiz-O. You can also find one of the other PTA officers (Susan O’Neal, Ashley Harrell, Deena Yeatts, Paige Bennett, or Jennifer Daniels) and offer to help her.
Raffle tickets are on sale now for the four PTA raffles (the winning tickets will be drawn at Quiz-O on the 24th.) Tickets $2 each for your choice of
1) Brunch for 4 at the Flying Melon, Native Parasailing for 2, and Dinner for 2 at the Back Porch;
2) a two-night stay at a cottage in Nags Head (donated by Village Realty);
3) a scoop of topsoil or clay donated by Jerry’s trucking;
or 4) a 50/50 cash raffle (winner gets half/PTA gets half).
