Ocracoke's Sweetest Tradition
Ocracoke can't let a little hurricane keep us from having our fig cake and eating it, too, so we've rescheduled the annual 4th of July Fig Cake Bake-Off smack in the middle of fig season.
And it's not just a Bake-Off – it's a whole End-of-Summer Celebration with a square dance and live music!
Schedule of Events:
Friday August 15, 2014
3-5pm Fig Cake Bake-Off
Bring your uncut cake contest entry to the Community Square by 3pm. (There will be two award categories: Traditional and Innovative.) Judging will begin at 4pm and be broadcast live on WOVV 90.1FM (wovv.org) by Daphne Bennink. Free samples for everyone after the judging!
6pm Traditional Ocracoke Square Dance with caller Philip Howard and live music with Molasses Creek
7pm Fig Cake Bake-Off Awards and Announcements
