OPS will host an Art Show and Silent Auction this weekend.

The Ocracoke Preservation Museum will host a special reception this Saturday, January 25th from 5 – 7pm. All are welcome to enjoy the wine and hors d'oeuvres, and see (and bid on!) the artwork on display.

Back in December, Ocracoke administrator Amy Howard distributed 6" x 8" canvases to volunteer artists and crafters, and asked that they be transformed and returned by mid-January. OPS received a wonderful collection of collages, paintings, and photographs to auction at the event. Children and adults, residents and visitors, professional artisans and beginners are all represented among the little works of art.

The artwork will be available for bidding with bids starting at $10. Some of the pieces have bids already! Amy has been posting photos of the canvases on the OPS Facebook page. You can see a selection there and even place your bid online.

The museum (which is closed for the season) will be open special hours this week for artwork previews. Stop by Wednesday – Friday, 12-3, and Saturday 10-4 for pre-bidding. All online, email, telephone, and in-museum pre-bidding will be closed at 4pm Saturday. To ensure you'll get the artwork of your choice, bid big or come to the event from 5 –7pm.

As an extra incentive to join the party, Amy's holding 15-20 canvases to be surprises at the reception – she hopes to see everyone there! All auction proceeds will benefit Ocracoke Preservation Society.
