Update on Ocracoke's New Fire Hall

The construction progress continues. 

As of June 22nd  the floor was poured, the steel work was complete, and the block walls were completed. With good weather we are looking forward to seeing the interior framing started, with the roof started in the next week or so.  The work on the new station has been ahead of schedule and quickly progressing with few problems until an act of vandalism hit the project.

The Ocracoke Fire Protection Association is offering a $500.00 reward for the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person / persons who used a sledge hammer to damage part of the newly constructed bay wall of the future fire station .  This event occurred sometime between Saturday June 15, 2013 and Tuesday morning June 18, 2013.  If you have any information please contact the Hyde County Sheriff’s Department.
