Mickey O'Neal
Mickey recently left her life-long island home for long term care in Elizabeth City. Born on Ocracoke on February 22, 1932, she was the fifth child of Charlie Warren and Rosa O’Neal Garrish. She is now with her beloved husband, Ronald T. “Conk” O’Neal, who passed away in December, 2011. Mickey was a homemaker and a member of the Ocracoke United Methodist Church.
She had a full and generous heart, a salty sense of humor, and a knack for making friends.
Mickey is survived by three sons, Ronald T. O’Neal, Jr. and his wife, Kathleen; Robert Benjamin O’Neal and his wife, Christine; and Michael Warren O’Neal, all of Ocracoke; four grandchildren, Ryan, Summer, Stacey, and Brian; and a step-granddaughter, Shannon. She has many other relatives and friends, both on and off the island, who will miss her warmth and kind temperament.
A memorial service will be held at the Ocracoke United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Laura Stern and the Rev. Ivey Belch officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ocracoke United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 278, Ocracoke, NC 27960.
Food for the family can be dropped off at the Methodist Rec Hall prior to the service.
