Local Band on National Radio
Ocracoke's own Molasses Creek will perform on the WoodSongs Old Time Radio Hour this coming Monday, (Nov 19) from 7-8:15 at the historic Kentucky Theater, in Lexington, KY.
They were asked to be on the show after the host, folksinger Michael Jonathan, saw them perform recently at the Southeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference. Molasses Creek will play four songs, plus get interviewed on the air for the program. They'll get to sing one more song off the air for the theater audience. Another band, Caravan of Thieves, will also be featured on the show. You can listen to the live stream Monday night on the WoodSongs website; the show will air on the radio about two months after the production date.
The WoodSongs show airs on over 500 radio stations across the country with a weekly audience of 1.3 million listeners. It's also played on the American Forces Radio Network in 180 countries around the world. Some of the shows are also televised later through PBS stations in various parts of the country.
Congratulations to Gary, Dave, Gerald, Marcy and Lou for this chance for their great music to be heard by a bigger audience than Deepwater Theater's!
