They were mostly talking about the antics between Roger Garrish, Dale Mutro and Phyllis Wall, who are on hand to keep everything honest and make the process move smoothly.

As of 3 p.m., 244 Ocracoke residents had been to the polls. Add that to the 236 voters who got absentee ballots and voted early, and Ocracoke already has better than 50% turnout.
Voting will end at 7:30 p.m. sharp tonight.
Riddick pointed out a letter from Hyde Elections Director Cindy Carawan, apologizing for the misspelling of 'Okracoke' on the Sanitary District Board ballot. It was a printing error, and will not invalidate the election results.
Ocracoke icon and veteran "Recon" Harry Lawrence said he cast his ballot "for the black man."
He assured Ocracoke Current would have the first interview with him, "before CNN gets here."
Jen Buday took advantage of one stop voting to register and vote the same day, in her first ever election. She was looking for machines with levers, and was surprised to be handed a paper ballot and a pen.
For years, her driver's license didn't match the state in which she lives. In her third year of living on Ocracoke, a trooper in Dare County reminded her to get her paperwork in order. She's proud to now be a voter, and a documented citizen of Hyde.
"I'm very politically unaware, but I'm aware enough to know that I don't want Romney," she said. "I'm not going to put a bumper sticker on my car, but I guess you can put it in the Current."
