Welcome to Ocracoke Current!
On a daily basis, we’ll post the most recent information about local events. We’ll cover all the big news stories, like ferry tolls and planning board decisions. We’ll also regularly post feature articles, book and movie reviews, recipes, photos ops, interviews, profiles, and random pieces that depict all the real and imagined wonders of island living.
We look forward to bringing you “Caught on the ‘Coke,” otherwise known as the Police Blotter. Let it be a lesson to us all.
We’re happy to announce that Rob Temple and Andrew Stern will join the crew as regular contributors. Rob will be messing about in boats and Andrew will provide a transcript of his popular and informative weekly news show on WOVV.
The contributors and editors of Ocracoke Current will seek first to inform, but will do so in a manner that we find amusing and light-hearted and in keeping with our declared intent to be funny, but not mean.
Ocracoke Current will provide a service to residents and visitors, promoting traffic to this website and others through links, making it a viable advertising vehicle for island businesses. Daily updates will make Ocracoke Current the easiest way to get the scoop, and a one-stop site for news and information.
Our articles will have space for comments below – commenting is easy; so is reading everyone else’s comments, and we all know how fun that is. Ocracoke Current will provide a forum for respectful dialogue and discussion about the many issues that face our little island, and to that end, we reserve the right to delete comments that veer past the line of civility. We also encourage our readers to identify themselves in comments. You know who we are; we’d like to know who you are, too!
Please look around the site and let us know what you think. We crave feedback. And if you like what we’re doing, please spread the word by linking us to your website or blog, or by liking us on Facebook, by texting your contacts about us, by Tweeting about us, or even by talking to someone in person on the street.
