COVID Vaccine Update

Press Release
COVID Vaccine Update
On Thursday, January 14, 2021, Governor Cooper announced that the priority phases for COVID-19 vaccinations had changed.

Hyde County Health Department: People 65 and older have been added as a priority population, ahead of frontline essential workers. Because of this, if you are a frontline essential worker who has previously scheduled an appointment with the Hyde County Health Department, you can expect a phone call cancelling your appointment. Please accept our sincerest apologies for this. We will announce via press release and an ALL CALL once the frontline essential workers population (now considered Phase 3) opens back up.

Ocracoke Health Center continues to vaccinate people on the island. They are following the new guidelines of 65 years and older. If you desire an appointment with them, please contact them at 252-928-1511. As is the case with the Health Department, if you leave a message do not call back as this ties up the phone lines. They will return your call.

As a reminder, Monday is a federal holiday and the Health Department will be closed for business.  We will resume services on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. If you call for an appointment and must leave a message, please do not call back, as this ties the phone lines up. We will return your call. Our number is 252-926-4399.

Starting the week of Tuesday, January 19, 2021, we will only post COVID-19 case counts on Fridays.

You can access https://covid19.ncdhhs.gov/dashboard for data on our state and our county.

As of today, our COVID-19 case count is as follows:  Active 144; Recovered 430; Deaths 7; total 581.
