VOTE TODAY

The 2020 general election is TODAY, Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 6:30am to 7:30pm. 

On Ocracoke, we vote at the Fire Department. This year, the voting booths are set up in the firetruck bays for social distancing. Please wear a facemask! 

Voting tips:

• NC no longer has an option for straight ticket voting; you have to mark a circle next to every candidate you choose to vote for
• The Ocracoke Sanitary Board has two seats open. Scott Bradley's name is on the ticket (he is already serving on the OSD board). Regina O'Neal Boor is also on the board and willing to serve another term, but if you want to vote for her, you have to use the write-in space. Roger Meacham is also running as a write-in candidate. 
• The deadline for requesting absentee ballots (voting by mail), was October 27, 2020. If you have received your absentee ballot and not yet mailed it, it can be dropped off at the Board of Elections office in Swan Quarter on Monday 8-5am. If you don't want to take the ferry over to the mainland, you can toss out your absentee ballot and vote in person on Election Day.

Ocracoke voters are mostly Democrats and Unaffiliateds who vote Democrat, so we expect Biden to win on the island. The rest remains to be seen. 

Ocracoke had a record breaking number of early voters – 346 – mark their ballots during early voting October 22 and 23. We are expecting a great turnout on Tuesday, too!
