2020 General Election Information from Hyde County Board of Elections

Voter Registration Deadline

The voter registration deadline for the 2020 General election is Friday October 9, 2020 at 5:00pm. You can register to vote online, by mail (postmarked by Oct. 9), or in person at the Board of Elections Office in the Public Safety Center, 1223 Main Street, Swan Quarter, NC.

After the regular voter registration deadline of Friday, October 9, 2020, you can register and vote in person at one-stop sites during the early voting period, which runs from Thursday, October 15, 2020 to Saturday, October 31, 2020. This process is known as same-day registration. Same-day registrants must attest to their eligibility and provide proof of residence. Within two business days, the county board of elections will review the registration and the registrant's address. Your vote will be counted unless the county board of elections determines that you are not qualified to vote.

2020 General Election Voting Details

The 2020 general election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Click here for a list of Hyde County precinct locations.

One stop voting begins on October 15, 2020 at the Board of Elections Office and October 22, 2020 at the Ocracoke VFD. Click here for full schedule.

Absentee ballots (voting by mail) may be requested from now until the deadline, 5:00pm. October 27, 2020. The request must be received in the county board of elections office by 5:00pm. October 27. The absentee request form can be emailed, faxed, mailed or returned in person to your county board of elections (contact information included with the form). If you are mailing your request, please include enough time for your request to be received by the deadline. You can download the absentee ballot request form here.
