Coronavirus Breakdown Update
Of this total, 1 is an active case, 121 have recovered, and 5 are deaths.
To date, 33% of cases are people in the 25-49 age group; 53% are female; 65% are white; and 74% have not been hospitalized. People with comorbidities make up 26% of cases, which is largely represented by cardiovascular disease at 26%. Unfortunately, not all cases have had comorbidity status reported, so there is an unknown factor of 40%. Please bear this in mind when studying the case data. Of the 127 cases, 55 have been linked to a congregate living setting. Hyde County has no clusters at this time, but continues to report an outbreak in a nursing home. The outbreak status will continue to report until the facility has been COVID-free for 28 days.
Please remember, the Health Department tests anyone who suspects they are sick with COVID-19 or has been in contact with someone who has the virus. We also test those who request testing even without symptoms. There are no out of pocket fees to individuals, but we do ask if you have insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, you bring your card with you for testing. We also ask that you call for an appointment as we do not see walk in clients.
As always, the Hyde County Health Department remains available to the public to answer questions and provide education. We can be reached at 926-4399 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. For 24/7 on-call services, dial 1-866-462-3821, the Coronavirus Hotline.
