Off-season Ocracoke -- where to eat, what to do!

NC remains in Phase 3 of COVID restrictions. Here's what to expect.

During the off-season, we update this page each week so that residents and visitors know what's available and where to go. 

Face coverings are REQUIRED in North Carolina. Read all about that requirement here. 

The NC Department of Health and Human Services and local public health officials are asking people that leave home to remember the Three W’s – Wear. Wait. Wash.
  • Wear a cloth face covering if you will be with other people.
  • Wait 6 feet apart. Avoid close contact.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.

Beach access: All ORV ramps are open and night beach driving is allowed. A permit is required for beach driving. The NPS campground will stay open through the winter. Make campground reservations or purchase an ORV permit online at www.recreation.gov(The Visitor Center is closed, but there are restrooms open.) 

Eating & Drinking: (Some restaurants are open for dining-in; some are carry-out only)

Ocracoke Oyster Company: Open Sunday & Monday 4pm–9pm; Tuesday through Saturday 11am–9pm. Open all winter. 

Jason's: Open Monday–Saturday 11am–2pm and 5pm–8pm for eat-in or carry-out; closed Sundays. Open through February. Closed from March 1st thru April 21st. Mask required to pick up carry-out, or Jason's staff will bring your order to your car. 

Zillie's Island Pantry: Winter hours: Sunday-Thursday 2-8pm; Friday/Saturday Noon-8pm. (252) 928-9036. 

Taqueria 504 Suazo's: January hours: Monday & Tuesday 8am– 4pm. Wednesday–Sunday 8am–7pm. Breakfast and lunch/dinner full menu. Mexican, Guatemalan, and American food carry-out. (252) 928-0068. 

1718 Brewery: Winter hours: Wednesday–Sunday 2pm–9pm. 

Plum Pointe Kitchen: Inside 1718 Brewery. Winter hours: Wednesday–Sunday 2pm–9pm. Daily specials. (252) 928-7586  

Helios Hideaway: Open Monday-Saturday, 7am–2pm for carryout. Open year round. See menu here

Old Salt Sandwiches: New location for 2020 at Variety Store parking lot. Open Monday–Saturday, 11am-3pm. Call-ins are welcome 252-340-0245.

Magic Bean Coffee Bazaar: Window service. January hours: Monday-Saturday 4:30am-1pm; Sunday. 7am-1pm; Closing for break on Feb. 1.

First National Bank: Open for drive-through services only. Other services by appointment only. Call 252-928-5231 for assistance.

Ocracoke Health Center: Open Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Call the office 252-928-1511 during office regular hours for an appointment. If you are having an emergency, call 9-1-1. Ocracoke Health Center is offering telephone and telemedicine appointments and continues to be the pickup location for Beach Pharmacy medications. Prescriptions must be pre-paid with Beach Pharmacy. If your last name begins with A-L, pick up your prescription from 2-3pm. If your last name begins with M-Z, pick up your prescription between 3-4pm. 

Island Mobile Medical Care, PA is open for non-life threatening illness, lacerations and infections. Hours are 6am-12 midnight 7 days a week. On Ocracoke every day (except Tues. and Wed). Payments by cash/credit card at time of visit. Call Gail Covington at 252-996-0511 to arrange care. 

Tideland EMC: Phone 800-637-1079 to speak with a service representative, or 800-882-1001 to make payments and report outages, or access the online member portal from the Tideland homepage.

Gas Station: Gas is back! We've got new gas pumps. Pump away! Pay-at-the-pump 24/7.

Ocracoke Library: Temporary location open at Deepwater Theater. Closed to patrons; text or call branch manager Sundae Horn at 252-921-0283 or email at shorn@bhmlib.org for information about online services or pick-up/delivery of books and DVDs. The library's website is bhmlib.org. FREE wi-fi is available in the parking lot; no password required; the network is NCGuestWifi.
