Press Release
Friends of Portsmouth to Meet May 18
A group trip to Portsmouth Island with a village tour will follow the meeting.

The Friends of Portsmouth Island will hold its spring meeting at Ocracoke School on Saturday, May 18, 2019.  The meeting begins at 10:00 and is open to the public.

Jeff West, Superintendent of Cape Lookout National Seashore, will discuss the current state of the village, future plans, and conduct an informal Q&A session.  After the meeting, he will lead a tour through the village for those who wish to go. You do not have to sign up for the tour in advance, just show up at the meeting. Rudy Austin will do a headcount and those touring will leave right after the meeting adjourns. The boat ride to Portsmouth is $20 per person, round trip.

Elections for the next 2-year term will be held for members to vote, and plans for Homecoming 2020 will be discussed.  Portsmouth t-shirts and books will be available for purchase, and door prizes will be awarded at the end of the meeting.
