Memorial Day weekend, here we come!

Current Events May 21-27

Monday, May 21st:

4pm: NCWorks @ Ocracoke Library, 4–6pm. Career Assistance and Guidance: NCWorks Career Centers and your local library have partnered together to help job seekers access employment resources, develop resumes, prepare for interviews, learn career ready skills, and embark on the path to a successful career. FREE. All are welcome!

5:30pm: Waterways Commission meeting @ Community Center. All are welcome to attend.

Tuesday, May 22nd: 

7pm: Island Trivia @ Gaffer's! $2 to play; all proceeds benefit Ocracoke Community Park. Come out and show off how smart you are!

8pm: Live Music! Coyote Plus One begins this week! The Coyote Music Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote Plus One" at 8pm every Tuesday night. This week's special guest is Danny Gotham out of Chapel Hill. Award-winning guitar and mandolin player extraordinaire! More info at www.coyotemusic.ne$15 adults/$7 kids under 12. Doors open at 7:30pm. Bring your own refreshments; soft drinks and water available for purchase. 

Wednesday, May 23rd: 

8pm: Live Music at the Coyote Music Den! The Coyote Music Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote: Just We Two" (just Marcy and Lou!) at 8pm every Wednesday night. $15 adults/$7 kids under 12. Doors open at 7:30pm. Bring your own refreshments; soft drinks and water available for purchase. More info at www.coyotemusic.net

Thursday, May 24th:

6pm: Wine tasting at Zillie's Island Pantry! Wine tastings take place every Thursday @ 6pm, and pair five great wines with delicious hors d'oeuvres from the pantry. Space is limited, so make a reservation, and sign up at zillies.com.

8pm: Live Music! Raygun Ruby @ Dajio, 8–11pm

Friday, May 25th:

8pm: Live Music @ Coyote Music Den! Martin, Marcy, and Lou "Playing Your Ocracoke Memories" in the intimate listening roon of the Coyote Music Den in the Community Square. Every Friday night through November 26th. $15 adults/$7 kids under 12. Doors open at 7:30pm. Bring your own refreshments; soft drinks and water available for purchase.

Saturday, May 26th:

10am: Guided Hike @ Springer's Point! Join the Coastal Land Trust and local folklorian Philip Howard for a guided hike through Springer's Point preserve. Meet at the entry at 10 am. Bring water, sunscreen, and a sense of wonder!

4pm: OVFD 13th Annual Firemen's Ball 4:00-6:30 Silent Auction5:00-6:30 Pig Pickin' (or until food runs out, which it always does) Plates are $15, and include a drink. Inside, donations accepted for cold beer generously donated by City Beverage Co. and Fortnight Brewery and Pub; 7:00 Live Auction; 8:30 Live Music The Dune Dogs and Raygun Ruby (Donations for the dance accepted at the door). Please note: Only event sponsors receive tickets for the pig pickin' and dance; first come, first served for everyone else!

6:30pm: Live Music! Kate McNally @ Oyster Co.

Sunday, May 27th:

Services @ both churches: Ocracoke United Methodist (Sunday School 10am; service at 11am) and Ocracoke Assembly of God (Sunday School 10am, services at 11am and 6pm; also Wednesday night service at 7pm).

8pm: Live Music!! Monjah @ Dajio Restaurant, 8-11pm; Dance with the Ocracoke Rockers @ Ocracoke Oyster Co., 8–11pm
