What's happening on the sandbar....

For Ocracoke residents: time for a new re-entry pass! Permits will be issued in Ocracoke at the Ocracoke Community Center from 9:00am to 12:00pm and 1:30pm to 4:00pm on: Monday, May 14, 2018 for last names beginning with A-E; Tuesday, May 15, for last names beginning with F-J; Wednesday, May 16, with last names beginning with K-O; Thursday, May 17, with last names beginning with P-T; Friday, May 18, with last names beginning with U-Z.

Monday, May 14th:

2pm: NPS Commercial Services Open House @ Community Center. Anyone interested in conducting business on National Park Service property is encouraged to attend. The meeting will begin with a presentation, followed by a Q & A session, discussion, and networking. The presentation will provide an overview of the Seashore’s Commercial Services program, which permits businesses to provide visitor services through Commercial Use Authorizations (CUAs).

3pm: TDA meeting @ Community Center. The Tourism Development Authority (2% occupancy tax board) will meet to consider the contract with OCBA and other matters.

Wednesday, May 16th: 

4pm: Informational meeting about class action lawsuit against CPL. 4-6pm @ the Community Center.

Thursday, May 17th:

6pm: Ocracoke Mosquito Control Board meeting @ Community Center: In addition to reviewing financials and program of work, the Mosquito Control Board is soliciting community input on increasing the current Mosquito Control property tax assessment from $0.01 per $100 of value to $0.02 per $100 of value in order to be continue addressing drainage issues in the village of Ocracoke.

7pm: Live Music! Raygun Ruby @ Dajio

Friday, May 18th:

6pm: Wine tasting at Zillie's Island Pantry! Wine tastings take place every Thursday 6pm, and pair five great wines with delicious hors d'oeuvres from the pantry. Space is limited, so make a reservation, and sign up at zillies.com.

7pm: Movie Night @ Ocracoke Library FREE program; we'll watch Paddington 2, speak in British accents, and enjoy marmalade sandwiches. Kids under 10 must be accompanied by older sibling or grown-up. 

7pm: Learn about the Hubble Telescope with Lisa Pelletier-Harmon from NASA @ Deepwater Theater. FREE program about the Hubble Telescope and its innovations and scientific breakthroughs. 

8pm: Live Music @ Coyote Music Den! Martin, Marcy, and Lou "Playing Your Ocracoke Memories" in the intimate listening roon of the Coyote Music Den in the Community Square. Every Friday night through November 26th. $15 adults/$7 kids under 12. Doors open at 7:30pm. Bring your own refreshments; soft drinks and water available for purchase. 

Saturday, May 19th:

6:30pm: Live music! Martin & Friends @ Ocracoke Oyster Company

Sunday, May 20th:

Services @ both churches: Ocracoke United Methodist (Sunday School 10am; service at 11am) and Ocracoke Assembly of God (Sunday School 10am, services at 11am and 6pm; also Wednesday night service at 7pm).
