Basketball season is winding down but we have lots of home games this week...

If you're planning a visit during the winter, check out the Who's Open page so you'll know where you can eat, sleep, shop, and play. Even with limited options for ways to spend your money, Ocracoke is a great getaway. The best part of a winter visit is the great outdoors. The winter beach is amazing. Springer's Point and the NPS Nature trail never disappoint. Less is more around these parts.

Monday, February 5th:

2:30pm: Home middle school boys basketball game @ Ocracoke School gym. Go Dolphins! The middle school girls play today at Hatteras.

4:00pm: Home JV/Varsity Basketball games against arch-rivals the Hatteras Hurricanes. Fear the Pod!

6pm: Hyde County Commissioners meeting @ the Community Center. Click here to view the agenda and packets. 

Tuesday, February 6th:

4pm: Home JV/Varsity basketball games @ Ocracoke School gym. It's Senior Night! Go Dolphins!

6:30pm: Open Jam @ Coyote Music Den, 6:30-9pm – sing, play, listen – all ages, all levels welcome (youth are encouraged to come at 6:30). No charge, but donations welcome.

Wednesday, February 7th:

7pm: OCBA Civic Affairs meeting @ Community Center. Come out and discuss stuff with OCBA peeps. 

7pm: Word Play @ Coyote Music Den, 7-8:30pm. If you love words … bring something you wrote, read, heard and share, listen or tell a story. No charge, but donations welcome.

Saturday, February 10th:

11am: Mexican Food Fundraiser @ Variety Store! Proceeds benefit the Ocracoke School Cheer Club. Mexican food and baked goods, 11am-2pm or while supplies last.

3pm: Moral March starting from Sunglass Shop (The Women's March, Moral Monday, No Drill No Spill, #metoo, Unity, our DACA friends...just to name a few.) March begins PROMPTLY at 3 PM. Organization of the masses will begin around 2:45pm in the parking lot of The Sunglass Shop (585 C HWY 12). Participants will march in unity down lighthouse road, and then turn around at the lighthouse to walk back to The Sunglass Shop. Organizer Anna Rucker posted, "Please feel free to make a sign to bring to the march!! But PLEASE use your best judgement in slogans. Although we do have lots to be upset about, lets not fuel the fire with opposing parties by hurtful words. There will be some "No Drill, No Spill" signs supplied as well as the large "Ocracoke Island" banner." 

8pm: Valentine's Dance with the Rockers @ Ocracoke Oyster Company! Dinner, dancing, and fun! Complimentary dessert for all dining couples. 

Sunday, February 11th:

2pm: Party with the Pigeon & Pals @ the Ocracoke Library Celebrate children's author Mo Willems's birthday with a Pigeon-themed party especially for 3 & 4 year-olds, and pre-K through 2nd graders! (All ages welcome!) The FREE event will include games, treats, storytime, and crafts! We're celebrate the Pigeon and all his friends – Elephant and Piggie, Knufflebunny, Edwina the Dinosaur, and more! Sponsored by Ocracoke Friends of the Library with donations from Gaffer's Sports Pub.

Today's your last chance to eat at Ocracoke Oyster Co. until March 17th!

Services @ both churches: Ocracoke United Methodist (Sunday School 10am; service at 11am) and Ocracoke Assembly of God (Sunday School 10am, services at 11am and 6pm; also Wednesday night service at 7pm).

Pancake Supper @ OUMC Rec Hall on Tuesday night; Ash Wednesday service and Jason's Restaurant opens for the season on Wednesday; Zillie's Chinese New Year Beer dinner on Friday night.
