Current Events Week of Dec. 25–31
Though the week between Christmas and New Year's Day can be busy with visitors, but for the most part, island peeps have the sandbar to ourselves for a couple of months.
If you're planning a visit during the winter, check out the Who's Open page so you'll know where you can eat, sleep, shop, and play. Even with limited options for ways to spend your money, Ocracoke is a great getaway. The best part of a winter visit is the great outdoors. The winter beach is amazing. Springer's Point and the NPS Nature trail never disappoint. Less is more around these parts.

6pm: Festive Holiday Wine tasting at Zillie's Island Pantry. Wine tastings pair five great wines with delicious hors d'oeuvres from the pantry. Space is limited, so make a reservation, and sign up at zillies.com.
Friday, December 29th:
5pm: Flying Melon Cafe: Will be re-open for New Year's weekend from 5–9:30pm on Friday, December 29th, Saturday December 30th, and Sunday, December 31st.
6pm: Zillie's Wine Dinner @ the Berkley Manor: Five-course Chef’s Tasting Menu and Wine Dinner. On-staff chef Christopher Johnson will be pairing delicious traditional and not-so-traditional courses with a superb wine selection from the racks of Zillie’s Island Pantry. Reservations for this very special evening are limited to 40 guests at $75 per ticket. Space is limited, so make a reservation, and sign up at zillies.com.
Saturday, December 30th:
2pm: Ocracoke Working Watermen's Oyster Roast, starts 2pm at the Ocracoke Seafood Company Fish House. Steamed oysters, steamed shrimp, Vince & Rudy's Famous Fish Stew, raffle items, and live music! Hot cider and homemade dessert around the woodstove at the Working Watermen's Exhibit, 3-6pm.
5pm: Flying Melon Cafe: Will be open for New Year's weekend from 5–9:30pm on Friday, December 29th, Saturday December 30th, and Sunday, December 31st.7pm: Live Music! Ocracoke Rockers featuring Tommy Hutcherson @ the Oyster Company. Dance party!
Sunday, December 31st:
1pm: No Football Zone Party @ Books to Be Red. Raffles, refreshments, and sales! 1pm–4pm.

8pm: Live Music! New Year's Eve with Aaron Caswell Band @ Ocracoke Bar & Grille, 8pm–midnight.
9pm: Live Music! Ring in the New Year at Ocracoke Oyster Company with the Bryan Mayer Band, starting @ 9pm!
Monday, January 1st:
2pm: Ring in the New Year with a Polar Plunge! Meet at the Airport Beach for the craziness. It won't last long, but it will start your year off right!
