NC remains in Phase 3 of COVID restrictions. Effective 5 p.m. Nov. 13, the indoor mass gathering limit is 10 people.

As North Carolina eases COVID-19 restrictions, the NC Department of Health and Human Services and local public health officials are asking people that leave home to remember the Three W’s – Wear. Wait. Wash.

  • Wear a cloth face covering if you will be with other people.
  • Wait 6 feet apart. Avoid close contact.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.

Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26th:

Thanksgiving on the Sandbar

8am: Turkey Trot! Ocracoke is hosting another 5K Turkey Trot this year! It will still be unofficial, and untimed. It will look different, but it will still be fun!! So we can space out properly, the race will start at the big NPS parking lot by the mainland ferries/base docks/boat ramp. Sponsored by Angie’s Gym and 1718 Brewing Ocracoke. However, in light of needing to move the race to a different start location, and to minimize large group gatherings, the sponsors will not be serving the delicious brew. As always, this event is free. However, if you would like a really cool scarf to commemorate your race, please register officially to secure yours. Registration is $25 and scarves are limited to the first 50 registrants. Get your Thanksgiving started off right! A little wobble, then a little gobble! Register here: http://www.angies-gym.com/5k-turkey-trot.html

Ocracoke Oyster Company (252-928-0020) is serving Thanksgiving Dinner in three seatings: at Noon, 2pm, and 4pm. The full dinner with dessert will be plated this year (no buffet.) Seating is limited; reservations recommended. Walk-in service not guaranteed. (See poster for more info.)

Black Friday, November 27th, is safe and fun on Ocracoke!

Most shops will be open with mask requirements and customer limits. We appreciate the visitors who do their Christmas shopping on the island. It's the last hurrah for the retail season!
