We got lucky with this week's weather. We're going to have some rain, some wind, some sunshine, even thunderstorms, but no hurricane. We're thinking about all the people in Irma's path. 

Monday, September 11th:

1pm: Monthly meeting with Ferry Division @ Community Center. All are welcome.

Tuesday, September 12th:  

8pm: Live Music at the Coyote Den! The Coyote Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote Plus One" at 8pm every Tuesday night. This week's guest is Kate McNally of Ocracoke, NC.

Wednesday, September 13th:

4pm: Home Middle School Volleyball game @ Ocracoke School gym. Go Dolphins!

8pm: Dingbatter's Guide to Ocracoke @ Deepwater Theater. This new comedy-skit show is the ultimate guide for Ocracoke visitors (and residents) of all ages! Join Desiree Ricker, David Tweedie, Gary Mitchell, and Peyton Piquard for answers to all your burning questions. Admission. Doors open at 7:30pm.

8pm: Live Music at the Coyote Music Den! The Coyote Music Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote: Just We Two" (just Marcy and Lou!) at 8pm every Wednesday night. More info at www.coyotemusic.net

Thursday, September 14th:

3pm: Live Music! Martin Garrish & Lou Castro @ Ocracoke Oyster Company! Come out to hear some amazing guitar playing, 3–6pm

6pm: Wine tasting at Zillie's Island Pantry! Summer wine tastings take place every Thursday and Friday at 6pm, and pair five great wines with delicious hors d'oeuvres from the pantry. Space is limited, so make a reservation, and sign up at zillies.com.

7pm: The Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department will hold their every-other-Thursday meeting at the Fire Hall at 7pm. They can always use new members! You can also stop by and get a way-cool OVFD t-shirt or order your reflective house number signs (so OVFD and Ocracoke EMS can find you!)

8pm: Molasses Creek in concert every Thursday at 8pm @ Deepwater Theater. Doors open at 7:30pm. Reserve your tickets online at molassescreek.com

Friday, September 15th

8pm: Live Music at the Coyote Music Den! The Coyote Music Den is in the Community Square, and will host Martin Garrish and Friends "Playing Your Ocracoke Memories" every Friday night through November. Beloved island native Martin Garrish shares songs – "sign posts of life" – and enchanting stories about growing up on Ocracoke. $15 for adults/$7 for kids under 12. More info at www.coyotemusic.net

Saturday, September 16th: 

8am: Multi-Family Yard Sale @ 100 British Cemetery Road. It's going to happen this week. Really. 

6pm: Community Potluck @ Deepwater Theater. All are welcome to join in the last Fiesta Latina for the summer, and to see the presentation of the pageant contestants for the 2017 Festival Latino de Ocracoke on November 11th. Bring a dish to share and enjoy great Mexican food!

6:30pm: Live Music!  Martin & Lou @ Oyster Co. 6:30-9:30pm

Sunday, September 17th:  

11am: Services at both churches: Ocracoke United Methodist (Sunday School 10am) and Ocracoke Assembly of God. The Assembly of God also has a 7pm service.

1pm: Megan's Day Fundraiser @ Books to Be Red. Lasagna Dinner Fundraiser (meat or veggie, side salad, garlic bread), wine and 1718 Beer available, Cake Raffles, Silent Auction, live music with Kate McNally, Marcy & Lou, and April Trueblood. Proceeds will benefit Ocracoke resident Megan Aldridge while she undergoes treatment for cancer.

Fall Hours

This is also the time of year when businesses go to fall hours. We'll keep you posted!  

Fall Hours for Ocracoke Preservation Society Museum: Monday–Friday, 10am–4pm; Saturday 10am–3pm; closed Sunday.

Jason's Restaurant Open Monday–Saturday, 11am to 2:30pm for lunch and 5pm to 8:30pm for dinner. Closed Sunday.

New Fall hours for Dajio: Lunch-Dinner 11am-9pm, and Shrimp Hour 3-5pm seven days a week. Closed for Breakfast. Pizza hours remain the same: Tuesday-Sunday 5-10pm. Closed Monday.

Coming Soon!  

September 19th-21st: Ocracats is having their annual Trap/Neuter/Release feral kitty fall clinic with Dr Howard Johnson from Boone and some other visiting vets including Ocracoke's own Dr Laura Trent. Ocracats needs volunteers to help on any of those days. If you plan to be on the island and want to get involved, please email ocracats@gmail.com. Jobs include selling t-shirts, cleaning traps, filling in forms, running errands, etc.
