Public Adjuster to Offer Free Sessions About Financial Losses Due to Blackout

Press Release

OCBA to host free sessions with public insurance adjuster on Sunday, August 20th.

We are all trying to come up with the best and most direct solution to recoup the loss caused by the PCL power outage. It’s important that we seek information and answers from as many sources as possible.

OCBA Sponsored Speaker: Rob Izzo, Public Adjuster, Southern Loss Consultants
Sunday, August 20, 2017 - Community Center
9am – 9:45am with Q&A afterward
1pm – 1:45pm with Q&A afterward

Based on your feedback, the Ocracoke Civic & Business Association is hosting Rob Izzo, a Pubic Adjuster from Southern Loss Consultants in Raleigh.  Rob went to UNC Chapel Hill, studied insurance and finance and has had his business, Southern Loss Consultants, for 25 years. Growing up, Rob’s family had a business in Nags Head. He feels a strong connection to the OBX, and wants to help in any way he can.  His presentation will be in a town hall format, is free of cost, and open to all businesses.

Rob will discuss options that business owners and rental property owners may have resulting from the loss of electricity caused by PCL Construction cutting/damaging the power lines that supply power to the island. Discussions points will include:

  • General discussion of the financial impact resulting from the 9 day period without electricity
  • Is there coverage under my insurance policy?
  • If there is coverage, what is covered and how is the loss amount determined
  • Possible options you may want to consider if you do not have coverage
  • If my insurance doesn't recoup all of my losses can I still make a claim with PCL?
  • Losses did not end when the evacuation was lifted. Businesses have felt the loss from Aug. 4-13 when many week-long vacationers decided to go elsewhere. Can I claim that week, too?
  • What to expect from this process

Recommend ALL attendees bring a complete copy of their insurance policy. This is so you can follow and make notes on your own insurance policies during the Open Session and ask questions afterwards.

**There is no cost to attend this meeting.
**Rob is not an attorney.  He is providing insurance advice and loss determination and calculation advice based on 28 years of experience and 10,000+ claims he has been associated with.

Should anyone desire to retain Southern Loss Consultants to assist them with their individual claim, fees can be discussed at that time.

Hope to see you there.
