Current Events Week of August 7-13
NPS volunteers and rangers open the Ocracoke Lighthouse a couple of times a week. (You can go in, but not up!) Stop by the NPS Visitor Center for specific times or check the Current's Facebook page.
Ocracoke Friends of the Library Used Book Sale ends this Wednesday. Stop by during regular library hours, 3–7pm. All proceeds benefit our wonderful little library!

Monday, August 7th:
1pm: OPS Museum Tour – Free! Today's guide is Julie Howard.
6pm: Board of Commissioners meeting @ Community Center. The agenda and packets for the Monday August 7, 2017, Hyde County Board of Commissioners meeting are now available to the public. Click here to view the documents. The meeting will take place via teleconferencing equipment @ Ocracoke Community Center. The public is invited to attend.
8pm: Pirate Show at Deepwater Theater! Join Desiree Ricker, David Tweedie, Gary Mitchell, and Peyton Piquard for a fun, family-friendly analysis of the infamous character Blackbeard the Pirate. 7:30pm; doors open at 7. Read more about "Blackbeard: A Historical, Hysterical Account" here.
Tuesday, August 8th:
9am: Re-entry passes for Ocracoke residents and non-resident property owners, Tuesday at the Ocracoke Community Center from 9-11am. Please get them now, not during a crisis. If you can not attend, you can always mail in your application. For more info go to https://goo.gl/22HRPL
1pm: Porch Talk @ OPS Museum: "Electricity on Ocracoke" with Tideland EMC's Heidi Smith. Porch Talks are FREE, informal, and informative!

1pm: Makers Market on Silver Lake Local art, community offerings, located on the Wahab House lawn, next to Anchorage Inn. Parking at NPS lot. Weekly outdoor arts and crafts market with local and regional artisans.

6pm: Parents' Night Out – Drop your kids off at OCC! Do you need a night out? Drop off your children for an evening of fun, supervised activities at Ocracoke Child Care. Thursday, August 10th, 6:00-9:00pm. Ages 3+. $30.00/child (Discount for multiple children in same family.) Secure a spot by emailing admin@ocracokechildcare.org, or 1st come, first served for drop-offs.

Sunday, August 13th:
3pm: Stratford-upon-Ocracoke Shakespeare Reading @ Ocracoke Library. We will read a couple of scenes from a play, discuss, and have fun! No previous study or knowledge required! Everyone is welcome.
