Ocracoke Community Outreach and Dinner: Officials will be on site Tuesday; free BBQ & burgers dinner will follow.

In response the economic impact on the Ocracoke Community, representatives from Hyde County DSS, Health Department, Emergency Management, Office of Economic and Planning and the County Manager's office, and the Salvation Army will be on the island tomorrow. They will set up a mobile response station at the Ocracoke Community Center from 1:00pm - 5:00pm Tuesday, August 1st.

The Health Department will be passing out fresh produce and offering assistance and information on the WIC program. DSS will offer information and assistance on any social services benefits. The office of Economic and Planning will offer information on unemployment benefits, collecting information from businesses on economic loss and also taking information on any unmet needs from the community. Please get the word out to anyone that needs help so we can get the information and start exploring ways to get them assistance.

After the outreach session at the community center, dinner will be served starting at 5:00pm free of charge for anyone that wants to join us. Friends of the county have graciously donated the food for a community gathering. Please come join us for a much needed boost in morale. There will be BBQ, hamburgers, slaw, chips and fruit with water and tea for refreshments. The food stations will be set up in the Pony Island Hotel parking lot and picnic tables will be set up at the Ocracoke VFD.
