Current Events Week of Leap Day
Goodbye, February, and hello, March!
Are we ready? This week we welcome the month that brings us evil cedar pollen, restaurant openings, and spring breakers!

Monday, February 29th:

This day is as good as any other to get your 50/50 raffle tickets from an Ocracoke 4th grader! Ocracoke School's 4th grade is going on a field trip to New Bern, Raleigh, and Williamsburg, VA next month and they are raising money to pay for it. Raffle tickets are just $2 each; half the money they collect will go to the 4th grade, the other half will go to the winning ticket holder! The drawing will be Thursday, March 3rd. Alyssa, Maren, Mariah, Elsie, Dibanhi, Yuletzy, Emilia, Alexis, Ronald, Daymon, Quinten, Christian, Will, or Silas will be happy to sell you a ticket!

Tuesday, March 1st:

The baseball game scheduled for today has been cancelled.

Come to Zillie's 5pm-7pm for an Open Source Ocracokemeet-up with artist Jean Skipper. Open Source Ocracoke wants to help you make all your dreams come true! All are welcome – come out to chat about the possibilities!

On a more serious topic, there's a Bedroom Project meeting at 6:30pm in the Ocracoke School gym for parents and other community members who are concerned about drug abuse among young people. Bedroom Project, and is sponsored by the Hyde County Health Department and Project Lazarus, a secular public health non-profit organization that uses experience, data, and compassion to empower communities and individuals to prevent drug overdoses. The Bedroom Project helps parents know what to look for if they suspect their children are abusing drugs. All are welcome to attend.
