It's another beautiful spring week on Ocracoke!

We had a busy Easter week and spring break, but now things should be a bit quieter before the season is in full swing. Time to plant the garden, take long walks on the beach, and watch some great hometown baseball.

Monday, April 13th:

Beta Club Blood Drive 2 – 7pm in the Ocracoke School multi-purpose room. Come and out and do the right thing for the Red Cross!

Play ball! Ocracoke's middle school Dolphins play against the Columbia Wildcats at 4pm on our beautiful ballfield. Come out and support them in their first ever home game! Go Dolphins!

The Ocracoke Library Knitting Club is open to everyone, from beginners to experts. Stop by the library at 5pm on Monday. Come out and share your projects and sit 'n' knit!

Wednesday, April 15th:

Tax Day! Who waited until today to get 'er done?

Thursday, April 16th:

There is a potential for power outages on Thursday morning starting around 8-9 am, and lasting for several hours. Tideland Electric Membership Corporation will try to use the generator during that time, but as always the electric demand must remain low enough and not exceed the capacity of the generators.

Change of plans: Ocracoke School Plant Sale starts today (instead of Saturday)! It's one of the most exciting days of the year! The fun starts at 11:10am (I don't have to get up early!) Come get your veggies, annuals, perennials, and hanging baskets at the multi-purpose room. Proceeds benefit Ocracoke School classrooms.

Play ball! Ocracoke's middle school Dolphins play against the Creswell Tigers. Go Dolphins!

The Jolly Roger Pub and Marina opens for the season! Good times ahead!

Friday, April 17th:

School Plant Sale continues, 8am -5pm in the multi-purpose room.

While you're there picking out the plants I didn't buy on Thursday, you can see the Ocracoke School Honor Roll Assembly. It starts at 8:15am and honors the students who earned all A's or all A's and B's during the 3rd nine weeks grading period.

Saturday, April 18th:

Graceful Bakery will open for the season! Freshly-squeezed OJ, waffles, biscuits, bread – "Made from scratch with love."

Today's home baseball game was cancelled. :(

Sunday April 19th:

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser, starting at 11:30am at Jason's Restaurant. Spaghetti Dinner, Bake Sale, and Raffle. To-go plates come with spaghetti, garlic bread, and tea. With marinara $8; with meat sauce $10. Donations welcome. All proceeds benefit Brian and Ali Fulcher. Brian recently suffered a serious head injury in a skateboarding accident, and has spent the past 21 days in the hospital, with Ali at his side. He's got a long recovery ahead of him, and Ocracoke (his hometown) is pitching in to help. Pick up a delicious lunch and support a good cause!

Get Lit at Books to Be Red! From 2:30 - 4:30 pm, bring your gently-read books to share with friends & community members. It works like a cookie swap…. bring 2 books, take home 2 books. Bring 5 books, take home 5 books. Refreshments will be served!
