It's a Beautiful Day on Ocracoke

And you might as well enjoy it, 'cause you're not going anywhere.

Heavy fog rolled in after last night's rain and higher temperatures. So far today, the ferries haven't left the dock, and don't know yet when they will. Call first if you are determined to get off the island. (Hatteras-Ocracoke route: 252-986-2353; Pamlico Sound ferries: 252-928-1665.)

That first part was written at 11am. Now, at 1:30pm, the sun is shining full on, it's 63 degrees, and the Cedar Island ferry made its 1pm run. But the Hatteras ferry route is still fogged in.

Who can complain about 56 degrees in March? It's going to get cold again tomorrow, and windy and rainy, too. Freezing rain on Friday! We won't see the sun again until Saturday, so get out there today and smile.

And please remember to feel sympathy for all the people stuck off the island. Poor things.

Happy fog day!

Editor's note: It's March now, not February. I needed some help with that fact today. Thanks to my proofreader for correcting me.

Yay or nay? Helpful or ugly? I've heard both. What do you think?
