Current Events Week of 2/16/15
The events listed below will take place given that the power's on, the ferries run, and we don't freeze.
Monday, February 16th:
Jury Duty! A cohort of Ocracokers is headed to Swan Quarter today to do their civic duty. By the end of the week, they should have some stories to tell of the Hyde County justice system.
POSTPONED due to weather: Home Basketball game: the Lady Dolphins take on the Manteo Redskins at 5pm in the Dolphin Tank (Ocracoke School gym) in the first round of the Coastal 10 conference championships. Listen at WOVV 90.1 FM or online at wovv.org. Fear the Pod!

Wednesday, February 18th:
Roanoke Island Animal Clinic will be on the island, at the Community Center. Stop by if you need something, or call ahead at (252) 473-3117 to make an appointment.
Transformation Zone Pre-School Storytime, 9:30am at Ocracoke Assembly Church classroom. Two-, three-, and four- year-olds are invited to join Leslie Lanier for stories, snacks, crafts, and fun!
Ash Wednesday service at Ocracoke United Methodist, 7pm.
Thursday, February 19th:
The Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department will hold their every-other-Thursday meeting at the Fire Hall. They can always use new members! You can also stop by and get a way-cool OVFD t-shirt or order your reflective house number signs (so OVFD and Ocracoke EMS can find you!)
Friday, February 20th:
Quizo! Quizo! Quizo! Friday night in the gym! 7 – 9pm! It's is played just like Bingo -- with lots of great prizes! All are welcome to this fundraiser for the 11th and 12th graders' spring trip to Washington, DC. Please help us support Ocracoke School students as they raise money to go to our nation's capital. Quizo is sponsored by the Ocracoke School PTA.
Girl Scout cookies arrive on Ocracoke! We'll be distributing and delivering over the weekend! Yum!
Planning ahead: Ocracoke Library Book Club has been revived! The first book we'll read is A Bookman's Tale: A Novel of Obsession by NC native Charlie Lovett. Check it out of the library, or pick up a copy at Books to Be Red (and get a special Book Club 25% discount!) The library's hours are Monday – Friday, 3 – 7pm and Saturday, 9am – 1pm. (Stop by and meet the new community librarian, Mary Bryant) The Book Club will meet on Tuesday, March 17th at 7pm at the library.
