Holiday happenings and more this week on the island!

He we come a-wassailing! Join the fun at OPS at their annual Wassail Party and Community Christmas Tree Lighting, Tuesday evening from 5 – 7pm. Live music will be provided by Susan Stuck and David Tweedie, there will be tasty treats, and the winning quilt raffle ticket will be drawn! And, there will be wassail! Come out to celebrate!

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Hyde County Office of Planning and Development with the Beaufort County Community College will offer Small Business Information Sessions. 5:30 – 6:30pm on Tuesday, and 10:00 – 11:00am on Wednesday at Ocracoke Community Center. Call (252) 640-6306 for more information or to register.

Ocracoke Civic and Business Association meet Wednesday night at 7pm at the Community Center. All are welcome to attend. Minutes from the November meeting are here

Yard (Garage) Sale at Leslie and Bill Monticone's house, Thursday, 9am – 4pm at 19 First Avenue. Lots of Christmas decorations for sale! 

Santa Claus is coming to town! Specifically, Santa Claus is coming to the Variety Store! Thursday, 3 – 5pm. Bring your young'uns to get their picture taken with the jolly old elf! (Photos are free -- no gift or money needed.)

The Scholastic Book Fair kicks off on Thursday with Family Night at 6:30pm. Stories and crafts and snacks! The Book Fair will be open 8am – 7pm Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday, and also Saturday, 9am – 1pm. The Scholastic Book Fair is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Ocracoke School's library program. 

The Ocracoke Occupancy Tax board will meet Thursday night at 7pm at the Community Center.

Village Thrift is going to have a sale of Christmas decorations, wrapping paper, etc. on this Friday, 1 – 4pm, in front of Sharon Miller's house at 36 Loop Road. There will be refreshments and very low prices. Also some winter clothes for sale too.

Cub Scouts Fundraiser Saturday morning! Cub Scouts are hosting a fundraiser at the United Methodist Church Rec Hall. Come by between 7:00 and 9:30 to purchase a breakfast of pancakes and sausage! A beverage will be included too! And for $8.00 you can't go wrong! One of the leaders, Jason Daniels, said, "The money stays here; it's for the benefit of our Cub Scouts." The group is saving up money to purchase materials needed for the annual Box Car Derby Race and for other projects and activities centered around the Scouts! 

The Ocracoke Dolphins will host their Holiday Basketball Tournament Friday and Saturday, with games beginning at 2pm on Friday. You can listen from anywhere in the world on wovv.org!

Saturday is the Community Christmas Concert at 7pm at the Community Center. Admission is a non-perishable food item for the food pantry. And don't forget to bring some $ for the bake sale to benefit Ocracoke's 2nd grade class!

Sunday will bring us another visit from St. Nicholas! Stop by Topless Oyster Restaurant between 8 – 10am for Breakfast with Santa! $10 each. Proceeds benefit the non-profit Ocracoke Child Care. 

All are welcome to the Assembly of God Church's annual Christmas program Sunday night at 7pm. The youth will perform "The Hope of Christmas" followed by food and fellowship.
