The Ocracoke Christmas season kicks off this weekend with several fun events!

Saturday, December 6th:

9:30am: Take Your Child to a Bookstore Day! It’s a national celebration of books and independent bookstores and we are celebrating on Ocracoke at Books to Be Red. Bring your young’uns for storytime and snacks at 9:30am. You can get some Christmas shopping done, too!

11am – 6pm: Ye Olde Holiday Christmas Stroll from Roxy’s Antiques to Ocracoke Restoration Company – and back again! Open House with holiday sweets, hot chocolate, and yuletide music! All antiques at both shops will be 20% off!

12:30 - 3pm: Books signing with Pat Garber. Pat will be at Books to Be Red to sign copies of her latest book and first novel, Paws and Tails.

1pm: Ocracoke Dolphins Home Basketball games vs. Perquimans at the Ocracoke School gym. Go Dolphins!  

Ocracoke Current Events 12/1-7/14

3 – 5pm: OPS Historic Homes Tour. See inside 8 historic structures all decked out in their holiday best! More info here.

3 – 5pm: Get with Gumbo Fundraiser! On the porch of the historic Corky’s Store (formerly Halo Hair) during the Historic Homes Tour.

Gumbo and rice dinner to go (courtesy of Topless Oyster Restaurant), $6 per serving.

All proceeds benefit Ocracoke Child Care.

Sunday, December 7th:

It's day two of Ye Olde Holiday Christmas Stroll – come on back for more! 11am – 6pm at Roxy’s Antiques and Ocracoke Restoration Company!

2pm: Annual Ocracoke Library Cookie Swap! Bring a dozen or more cookies to share; take home the same amount of assorted cookies that other brought to share! Good times! Entertainment will be provided by Ocracoke Boy Scouts, Rob Temple, and the Methodist Children’s Choir. This fun family-friendly event is sponsored by Ocracoke Friends of the Library.

Looking ahead to next week:

All the women in the Ocracoke community are invited to the United Methodist Women’s potluck dinner at 6pm on Monday, December 8th. Bring a dish to share and a gift for the exchange (if you wish to participate.) It’s a really lovely evening!

Tuesday is the annual OPS Wassail Party and Community Christmas Tree Lighting, 5-7pm.
