The Hatteras ferry crossing is FREE and takes about 1 hour. It makes up to 40 departures a day depending on the season.
If you're making a daytrip to Ocracoke, please plan to arrive at the Hatteras ferry landing as early as possible for the first-come, first-served ferry. Be an early bird and you won't wait in line! The busiest spring, summer, and fall daytripping days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. You can avoid a long wait by arriving at the ferry before 9am, or visiting Ocracoke on Monday, Friday, and/or the weekend.
The schedule can be subject to change due to weather conditions and traffic. It's always a good idea to call ahead at (252)-996-6000. Enjoy the ride!
