Tickets were written for driving without a valid license, driving on an expired registration, and for recklessly allowing a passenger to sit on the trunk of a moving sedan. 

Officers used the department's old military truck to patrol during Hurricane Sandy.  Several drivers were stopped and asked to drive more slowly through the flood waters.  Wakes from vehicles could damage property; Sergeant Jason Daniels noted that both the Pony Island Motel office and Ocracoke Station were vulnerable to being flooded by a careless driver.  The proper rate "is very, very slow.  You should be moving at a creep," said Daniels.

Daniels was in Swan Quarter on Wednesday, October 31 for court.  There were over 200 cases on the docket.  He testified in a historic trial, the first one testing county regulation of golf carts.  A driver that had been issued a ticket because a passenger was standing up in the back was found guilty. 

The Beaufort County resident who was caught using a credit card that belong to someone else was found guilty of financial identity fraud.

Officers assisted with a cat attack.  The owner was bitten while preparing her kitty for a visit to the vet.  All bites by mammals, whether domestic, feral or wild, should be reported to the Sheriff's Department.  A report needs to be made for the Health Department, said Daniels.  Cat owner and cat are doing fine.

The AA Jamboree came and went over the weekend without police even noticing.  There were no disturbances at locals bars.
