Thanks to Ocracoke School Volunteers!

Ocracoke School volunteers were honored and thanked at a breakfast held at the Pony Island Restaurant on Tuesday, June 5th at 7 a.m.

Honorees were as follows: Macky Bell, Ralph Buxton, Vera Buxton, Eden Honeycutt, Leslie Lanier, DeAnna Locke, Linda Scarborough, Norma Sigal, and Kati Wharton. Each of these volunteers had 10 or more hours logged in with Ocracoke School for the 2011/12 school year. At the end of May our volunteers had a total of 677 hours!

Ralph Buxton was the top volunteer with over 307 hours, followed by Eden Honeycutt with 145 hours, and third was Vera Buxton with 107 hours. Walt Padgett, principal, gave each volunteer a  certificate of appreciation. Mr. Padgett told the volunteers that no one is cherished in this world more than someone who lightens the burden of another, and our volunteers have done just that for our teachers. He continued by saying he and the teachers appreciate the commitment and dedication of the volunteers and they are a big part of the reason our students are so successful. After the presentation, volunteers, teachers and staff enjoyed an excellent breakfast before heading in to start the school day.

Thanks to all those who donate their time for Ocracoke School.
