Coming for to Carry Me Home
When musicians perform from the heart, the company is good and true, and you're outdoors on a sunny but not hot late spring day, an argument could be made that a group sing-a-long is, in fact, one of the best things in life.
It felt that way this morning.
The final day of the Ocrafolk Festival always begins with a gospel sing. Headlining performers from the festival join local musicians on stage, often as supporting players to the talented people who live here. Performers welcomed each other to the stage with outstretched hands. There was more than enough room for everyone.
The sound grew larger and sweeter as the audience found their voices and sang along.
"I got chill bumps and tears in my eyes," said former Ocracoke resident, full-time musician and (as if she needs more accolades) my friend Kim France.
