OCRACATS HAS PLACED A MORATORIUM, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, ON PAYING FOR CAT FOOD FOR FERAL CATS.

We thank all of the islanders who are feeding feral cat colonies, but at this time we cannot afford to pay the monthly food bills, which have skyrocketed in recent months.

Please understand that while we did receive a $20,000 grant from PetSmart Charities, this money is ONLY for spay-neuter surgeries (and a few associated costs.)

It DOES NOT PAY FOR CAT FOOD, medicine or rabies shots.

We expect to spay-neuter 300 cats from January of this year until the spring of next. Each clinic costs about $5,000. So, four clinics constitutes the total of the grant.

DONATIONS are our only other source of income to pay for cat food and we have lost considerable revenue from our donation jars from lack of visitors  since Hurricane Irene as well as over the winter.

We apologize that we cannot pay for food at this time and hope to resume sometime during the tourist season.

Your understanding is much appreciated.

If you care to donate to help the cats on the island, please send your check payable to Ocracats, Inc., to P.O. Box 993.
