Busted on the Beach May 31, 2015-June 27, 2015

NPS Law Enforcement Rangers reported violations and illegal activity on the Seashore for May and June. 

Resource violations include:

One citation issued for camping in an undesignated area; two verbal warnings for using fireworks; eight verbal warnings, one written warning, and two citations for violating the leash policy on federal property; and one citation issued to a pedestrian who entered a resource close (turtle and/or bird nesting site).

Violations that do not include resource or traffic infractions:

Six verbal warnings were given to people violating campground rules; and a verbal warning was given for an unspecified other violation.

Traffic violations of paved roads:

Two arrests DWI (driving while intoxicated) arrest were made; one citation was issued for an open container of alcohol; two verbal warnings were given for other unspecified traffic violations; 15 verbal warnings, two written warnings, and six citations were given or issued for speeding; and two written warnings were issued for operating an unregistered vehicle (to include ATVs, UTVs, golf carts, etc…).

Traffic violations in ORV area:

One verbal and one written warnings were given for having an open container of alcohol; one citation was issued for an unspecified other traffic violation; 20 verbal warnings, three written warnings, and three citations were issued for driving without an ORV permit in an ORV area; five verbal warnings were given for speeding; six verbal warnings, one written warning, and three citations were issued for operating an unregistered vehicle, which includes ATVs, UTVs, golf carts, etc.; and eight verbal warnings were given and one citation issued for unsafe operations.

Assists from NPS Law Enforcement:

13 assists were tallied for helping motorists who were stuck in the sand or had a disabled vehicle, and information and directions were given 25 times.
