Dolphins Beat Lakers

On Monday the high school basketball teams were in action against inter-county foe: Mattamuskeet.

The Lady Dolphins came into this game after a 54 – 44 victory over conference opponent Manteo; also coming into this game, the Lady Dolphins had a 5-1 conference record, with their only loss to the Plymouth Vikings.

On the other side, Mattamuskeet came into this game winless. To start the game off, the Lady Dolphins pushed the ball up the court gaining easy baskets in transition. The Dolphins were up 16-0 after the end of the 1st quarter. The Lady Lakers were obviously upset, and were playing the game very frustrated – this would continue for the entire game. By half, the score was 36 – 0. This dominance would continue for the Dolphins until the end of the game: 60 – 9 final score.

The Dolphins came into this game with a 2 – 4 conference record and a close loss to Manteo. The Mattamuskeet boys came into the contest winless, just like their girls. In the game, the Dolphins jumped out to an early lead, and kept it. At the half the Dolphins were up by 12.

The Lakers tried their hardest to come back but all of their efforts were unsuccessful, as the Dolphins came out with a victory 50 – 39. The Dolphins improved to 3 – 4 in conference play, and their next game is Friday against rival Hatteras Hurricanes for their homecoming and the battle for the paddle!

On Friday, the Boys will be playing to bring the paddle home – the Girls will be playing to keep the paddle on Ocracoke!
