But first…. we start off with a meeting! Representatives from the NCDOT Ferry Division will be on the island Monday for a meeting at 1pm at the Methodist Church Rec Hall. All are welcome to attend and ask questions about the ferry system.
Molasses Creek will be in concert at Deepwater on Thursday nights throughout October. (The shows are 1/2 price for Ocracoke residents!) More info here.
The kids at Ocracoke School have a 1/2 day of school – they need lots of time to get ready for the costume parade at 3pm.
Volunteers are needed! Baked goods are needed for the Bake Sale! Contact PTA president Ivey Belch at 921-0021 if you want to help with carnival games, hot dog sales, the cake walk, the costume parade, and/or the ever-popular Quiz-O. You can also find one of the other PTA officers (Susan O’Neal, Ashley Harrell, Deena Yeatts, Paige Bennett, or Jennifer Daniels) and offer to help her.
Raffle tickets are on sale now for the four PTA raffles (the winning tickets will be drawn at Quiz-O on the 24th.) Tickets $2 each for your choice of
1) Brunch for 4 at the Flying Melon, Native Parasailing for 2, and Dinner for 2 at the Back Porch;
2) a two-night stay at a cottage in Nags Head (donated by Village Realty);
3) a scoop of topsoil or clay donated by Jerry’s trucking;

Calling all artists to Ocracoke Preservation Society! There are 100 little 6 x 8 canvasses at the OPS Museum waiting to be transformed into original works of art. Amy Howard, OPS Administrator and the organizer of the art show, hopes that professional artists, dabblers, crafters, wanna-bes, and even people who don't think they're artists will be willing to participate. Show us "Ocracoke Through Your Eyes"! More info here.
