It is extremely important to thank the elected officials who have helped us. Many of them have nothing to gain personally from their work for our cause. They deserve our thanks.
Legislators from all regions of NC need to know how desperately our coastal citizens need help on this issue. You will make the issue come alive for them
When you arrive at the NC General Assembly, you will receive a packet of information about the legislators to be visited, with maps and directions. We will have group leaders and volunteers to help you. We will gather in the NC House Gallery at 12:00 noon. We will wear our badges, sit together, and be recognized as a group by the Speaker of the House.
If you need help making travel plans and connections with those who are driving to Raleigh, or if you can provide someone with transportation, call the Transportation Coordinator in your county:
Beaufort County- Lisa White (252) 946-0079; lisa.white@co.beaufort.nc.us
Hyde County- Megan Shaw (252) 926-4373; mshaw@hydecountync.gov
Pamlico County-Jayne Robb (252) 745-3081, jayne.robb@pamlicounty.org
Town of Oriental- Larry Summers (252) 675-0467; larsum@aol.com
We are asking you to enter the serious world of legislative action. We do not win with emotionalism. We use courtesy and reason. Some prefer to criticize the political process from the safety of their armchairs. We offer the opportunity to do something positive to help coastal counties. If you can take a day and come to the NC General Assembly, you become an important player in the political process, as well as help other citizens who lack the ability to travel to Raleigh but need access to coastal ferries.
An agenda will follow, with other specific information for your lobbying experience. Forward this email to other interested parties.
We hope to see you in Raleigh on Wednesday, May 16th!
