A Change is Gonna Come

January 20th will mark the beginning of a new era.

As millions of Americans watch the swearing in and Inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, we at the Ocracoke Current will be working behind the scenes on something almost as momentous.

Jenny and Sundae started the Ocracoke Current in January of 2012 and the site first went live on January 20th at around noon. In honor of our 9th anniversary, we will unveil a new look for the Ocracoke Current with our brand new website.

The domain name won't change and the transition should be smooth.

We love the look of the new site and hope you will, too!

We need a change for the new era. We kept the most-visited parts of this site (Community Calendar, What's Open, Current Events, Current News, Old Ocracoke by Candy Gaskill), and infused the new site with our reasons for doing this work: sharing Jenny's sense of humor and Sundae's reporting along with the press releases and news items that give you, our readers, the information you need to be in the know about Ocracoke from wherever you are.

There are also several new features that we are excited to share: a business directory, photo galleries, event listings, more visibility for our advertisers, and even a weekly poll!

We hope you'll take some time to explore the new Ocracoke Current later this week – and please give us your feedback!
