6pm: Hyde County Board of Commissioners meeting @ Community Center. The agenda and packets for the Monday, February 3, 2019, Hyde County Board of Commissioners meeting are now available to the public. Click here to view the documents. The meeting will take place via teleconferencing equipment in the Hyde County Government Center Multi-Use Room and in the Ocracoke Community Center. The public is invited to attend and make public comments.
4:30pm: Post-Dorian Support Group meeting @ Lightship Realty: Free support group for grief and loss. All residents are welcome. With the holidays there will be more acute feelings of loss for many on the island. Our recovery from Dorian continues to influence how we respond to daily events on the island. Sharing space with others in a safe, supportive environment and talking about the challenges and learning tools for coping can make a difference. Facilitated by Ruth Fordon and Desiree Ricker.
11am: Free lunch for residents ONLY @ Community Center. Provided by Ocracoke Strong Kitchen.
7pm: Ocracoke Housing meeting @ Community Center. All are welcome to join in the discussion on finding solutions to Ocracoke's immediate and longterm workforce housing needs.

9:30am: Family Story Time with Ms Claire @ Ocracoke Library/WOVV: Meet in the Ocracoke Library's temporary space in the upstairs lobby of WOVV Radio Station (next to the library building.) Family Story Time will alternate between English and Spanish stories -- this week will be English! Claire Senseney, who has been trained in Motheread/Fatheread, will be your host. Family Story Time provides a time for parents/guardians and their children to come together to enjoy a story, followed by a fun craft. No matter your first language, please join us every other Saturday for stories and crafts! Sponsored by the 21st Century Community Learning Center and the Hyde Coalition for Children.
12noon: Warming Center/Open House @ OUMC Rec Hall: We will be open 12pm-5pm. Coffee, cakes, possibly homemade pita...and plenty of games, books, and friendly conversation for everyone who wants to stop by and say Hi. Organized by Meredith Rollman. This Saturday Pat Garber will be joining us at The Methodist Rec Hall at 2pm for a reading of her new book about her adventures living in the Adirondack.
9am: The Red Cross Disaster Relief @ Masonic Lodge: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. this Sunday through Tuesday (Feb. 9 to 11). The Red Cross will continue assessing how they may provide assistance to those whose homes have been demolished or majorly damaged by Hurricane Dorian. Go and see them if your PRIMARY RESIDENCE was flooded, even if you were renting.
Services @ both churches: Ocracoke United Methodist (9am @ Rec Hall) and Ocracoke Assembly of God (Sunday School 10am, services at 11am and 6pm; also Wednesday night service at 7pm).
