'Tis the Season!

Ocracoke looks different this holiday season, but we are still mustering up some Christmas cheer. Here's what's happening on the sandbar....

The Ocracoke Current calendar is a great source for events and information. We post updates on our Facebook pagetoo! This story will be updated as needed with more information, so check back!

Monday, December 9th:

It's a rainy, balmy day! Read a book!

Tuesday, December 10th:

9am: OTB & OTDA meeting @ Community Center: The Ocracoke Occupancy Tax Board and Ocracoke Tourism Development Authority Board will have a joint meeting. On the agenda is a discussion of what monies the boards have aren't allocated yet, or have been designated for events that are not happening because of Hurricane Dorian. The meeting will be facilitated by Chris Cavanaugh of Magellan Strategy Group, which did the initial branding research for Ocracoke in 2017.

4pm: OPS Wassail Party and Community Tree Lighting. 4–6pm at the OPS Museum. OPS will draw the winning ticket for the 2019 Quilt Raffle! Shop at the Museum gift shop for great holiday gifts. Entertainment will be provided by Ocracoke School's Kindergarten and 1st grade classes, and there will be delicious treats -- and hot wassail! FREE and festive!

4:30pm: Post-Dorian Support Group meeting @ Lightship Realty: Free support group for grief and loss. All residents are welcome. With the holidays there will be more acute feelings of loss for many on the island. Our recovery from Dorian continues to influence how we respond to daily events on the island. Sharing space with others in a safe, supportive environment and talking about the challenges and learning tools for coping can make a difference. Facilitated by Ruth Fordon and Desiree Ricter. Please share this post.

Wednesday, December 11th:

9am: OTB/OTDA/OCBA meeting @ Community Center: The Ocracoke Occupancy Tax Board, Ocracoke Tourism Development Authority Board, and Ocracoke Civic & Business Association will have a joint meeting to work on their strategy for working together and/or separately as they move forward into the next fiscal year. The meeting will be facilitated by Chris Cavanaugh of Magellan Strategy Group, which did the initial branding research for Ocracoke in 2017.
