We have fun events all through December and a handful of visitors will be here to join in. The week between Christmas and New Year's Day can be busy with visitors, but for the most part, island peeps have the sandbar to ourselves for a couple of months.
If you're planning a visit during this quiet time, check out the Who's Open page so you'll know where you can eat, sleep, shop, and play. Even with limited options for ways to spend your money, Ocracoke is a great getaway. The best part of a winter visit is the great outdoors. The winter beach is amazing. Springer's Point and the NPS Nature trail never disappoint. Less is more around these parts.
3pm: The OCBA board is hosting a meeting with the Occupancy Tax Board and the Tourism Development Authority @ the Community Center. It features a presentation by Chris Cavanaugh of Magellen Strategies about how the three boards could/should work together in the new year. The Current will report on the information!
4pm: Home Middle School basketball games, @ the school gym. Dolphins vs. the Creswell Tigers. Fear the Pod!
5pm: The Hyde County Board of Education and the Hyde County Board of Commissioners will meet on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 beginning at 5pm in the Hyde County Government Center Multi-Use Room, Swan Quarter and the Ocracoke Community Center utilizing electronic conferencing equipment. The purpose of this meeting is to participate in a joint meeting with the Hyde County Board of Commissioners.
4:30pm: Ocracoke Planning Board meeting @ Community Center.
6pm: OCBA Civic Affairs meeting @ Community Center. Come on out and find out what's going on! (Or read about it in the Current later...)
7pm: Ocracoke School Christmas program, @ the school gym. Singing, dancing, acting, cuteness overload and holiday cheer! Also, tasty treats!

7:30pm: Joyful Band of Singers Concert @ Ocracoke United Methodist Church. Christmas choral music featuring musical styles from the 12th century to the present. Public Radio East’s classical music host, Finley Woolston, will direct his Joyful Band of Singers in this FREE holiday event, sponsored by Ocracoke Alive. Everyone is welcome!

6pm: Christmas Program at Ocracoke Assembly of God Church "Is There Room in Your Heart?" The annual Christmas program features music and worship offered by the kids and adults. Lots of tasty treats afterward to fill you tummy. Great fellowship, too! All are welcome!
