Ocracoke temps dipped below freezing on Saturday, with a low of 27°F, which dropped even lower on Sunday to a frigid 24°F. Sunday's high was a mere 29°F, giving the little island a whole day with temps in the 20's. Brrrrr!
There were a lot of disappointed children who were hoping for a foot of snow, but Ocracoke only got a slight dusting of the white stuff, after more rain. But then it froze! Icicles are fun, too, kids!
The Current's intrepid nature reporter and photographer, Crystal Canterbury, ventured out in the cold today to get photos for you, dear reader. Thanks, Crystal!
Check out these photos now because Iceland won't last long. Monday will dawn with temps in the 30's and by the end of the week, it will be sunny and 65°. Winter weather is always short if not sweet on Ocracoke.
Ocracoke Current readers all know and love Crystal's beautiful shots of the island's flora and fauna. She shoots people and events, too, and provides most of the good photos that we use to accompany stories. Many of you enjoy also seeing her pix on the Current's Instagram and Facebook posts.
You can also check out her gallery of photos at her website, Island Images by Crystal, and even order some prints!
