The National Park Service hosts interpretive programs on Ocracoke every week. Find that schedule hereWonderful NPS volunteers and rangers might even open the Lighthouse. (You can go in, but not up!) Stop by the NPS Visitor Center for specific times or check the Current's Facebook page.

Monday, September 12th:

4:00pm: Ocracoke's FIRST EVER Home Soccer Game! Woo! Come out and see the Dolphins play at the Ocracoke Community Park. This is just the 2nd year Ocracoke has even had a soccer team, and they scored their first, second, and third points in team history last week. Fear the Pod!

6:00pm: Attention Ocracoke School parents and community members! Hyde County Schools superintendent Dr. Randolph Latimore will hold a community meeting at 6pm in the commons to discuss school issues.

7:30pm: Pirate Show at Deepwater Theater! Join Desiree Ricker, David Tweedie, Gary Mitchell, and Peyton Piquard for a fun, family-friendly analysis of the infamous character Blackbeard the Pirate. 7:30pm; doors open at 7. Read more about "Blackbeard: A Historical, Hysterical Account" here.

Tuesday, September 13th:

8pm: Music at the Coyote Den! The Coyote Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote Plus One" at 8pm every Tuesday night. More info at www.coyotemusic.net

Wednesday, September 14th:

7pm: OCBA will hold their regular monthly meeting at 7pm at the Community Center. All are welcome. 

8pm: Music at the Coyote Den! The Coyote Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote" (just Marcy and Lou!) at 8pm every Wednesday night. More info at www.coyotemusic.net

3:30pm: Lego Club at the Library! Come out and build -- the library provides the Legos. For Pre-K through 8th grade kids; kids under 7 must have a grown-up with them. 3:30-5pm.

Saturday, September 17th:

9:30am Educational Program aboard the Skipjack Wilma Lee! "BUOY Bingo  - Nautical Charts and Navigation" During this program, students will learn the fundamentals in reading nautical charts, using longitude and latitude hydrographic maps to determining location in degrees, minutes and seconds, reading compasses and learning about nautical symbols.  Students will make their own compasses and investigate the variations in magnetic north as well as play a game that will allow them to locate different maritime and historical features in and around Ocracoke Inlet.

6:00pm Nathan's 50th and Newt's 70th Birthday Bash & Pig Pickin' – Live music from the Ocracoke Rockers and more! At the Ocracoke Oyster Company.
