Hello friends and readers of the Ocracoke Current! Were you at the Ocrafolk Festival this year? Well, if you were, you know that it was a blast! There was food, music, shops, and fun! We interviewed some tourists and performers about what they thought about Ocracoke Island at the festival this last weekend. Here is what we documented.
The first people we interviewed were a very nice couple named Karen and Kevin. They are from Baltimore, Maryland. They have been here about 40 times since 2003 and they love it. They are staying at Blackbeard’s Cove. They especially love the Skipjack Wilma Lee. Their favorite thing to do is look out over the sound on the base docks.
The second people we interviewed were vendors, Jen Ray, and her baby, Zoey, who is 9 months old and is very cute. They say that they love it here. They are staying at Teeter’s Campground. It’s her first time in 6 years coming to Ocracoke. Her favorite things here are the festival and its beautiful artwork.
The next people were the Allen family. Their children are 3 and 4 years old. It is their third time at the festival, and of course, they love it. They love the beach, and also the face painting at the festival.
The fourth people we inquired were Cassie and Maggie MacDonald, who are performers. It is their third time and like everyone else, they adore it. Some of their favorite things, among many, are the food, the lighthouse, and the Skipjack Wilma Lee.
Then we questioned Sarah Setzco, the face painter during the festival. It is her second summer here and she enjoys it a lot. She likes the beach, the food, and the wonderful people. She is staying at the National Park Service campground.
The next person we interviewed was Sidya, a performer from the band Kaira Ba. He is from Senegal, Africa and now lives in Chapel Hill. He says the island is peaceful. It is his 2nd time, and he loves many things about it. He loves the people, music, vendors, kids, and as he says “the talent.” He overall just loves the festival and Ocracoke.
The third to last person we interviewed was Meg Scott Franklin. She says Ocracoke is awesome. She comes every year. Her favorite things to do are bike ride, and go to the beach. She is staying at 1 of her 3 houses here.
Mattie Cordio was our next victim. “I love it,” Mattie says. It is her 4th time on Ocracoke, but her 2nd time at the festival. She is staying at Pam’s Pelican bed and breakfast. Her favorite things about it are the people, and the admirable art. We loved her clay art and quilling.
Our last interviewee was Judy Ricker. She has been here 20 times. “It’s paradise,” Judy exclaims. She loves going to the beach and is staying at her daughter’s house on Howard’s street.
That’s it then! Thank you to all our victims for this knowledgeable article. Also, thank you to Ocracoke Current for letting us publish this article. We hope you readers enjoyed this informational text!
