Remember to order your doughnuts this week! Ocracoke School teachers and staff are peddling Krispy Kreme doughnuts as a fundraiser for the Academic Banquet. Doughnut order forms can be picked up at the post office, Variety Store, Ocracoke library, or the school office. Teachers and staff are also taking orders, so flag one down and let them know how many boxes you want! Forms are due to the school office by Friday, May 13th, and doughnuts will be available for pick-up in the multi-purpose room on Monday, May 16th.
Monday, May 9th:
NCDOT ferry division officials will hold a public meeting at 1pm at the Community Center. All are welcome to come out and ask questions about the ferries.
A wonderful NPS volunteer will open the Lighthouse on Mondays from 1–3pm. You can go in, but not up!
Tuesday, May 10th:
Open Jam at Coyote Music Den, 7–9pm at Marcy and Lou's place in the Community Square. All are welcome to play, sing, or listen.
Wednesday, May 11th:
Ocracoke Civic and Business Association will meet at 7pm at the Community Center. This month's agenda and last month's minutes will be posted ASAP. Everyone is welcome!
Thursday, May 12th:
Coloring Night at Books to Be Red! Come out to color your stress away! 6:30–8:30pm. Books to Be Red provides coloring pages, crayons and markers, and refreshments, and it's FREE! Not sure what Coloring Night is? Read this story and find out!
The Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department will hold their every-other-Thursday meeting at the Fire Hall at 7pm. They can always use new members! You can also stop by and get a way-cool OVFD t-shirt or order your reflective house number signs (so OVFD and Ocracoke EMS can find you!)Ocracoke's Occupancy Tax Board will hold their second meeting to grant money to local organizations. The fun will be begin at 7:30pm at the Community Center.
Friday, May 13th:
Krispy Kreme order forms due today! Take yours to the school office by 3pm. Pick-up will be Monday.
All are welcome to the annual British Cemetery Ceremony at 11am, here.
Two Special Jazz House Concerts at Oscar's House: 6 and 8 pm with a reception for each. Enjoy jazz from Gershwin to Monk with Ocrafolk Festival performers Alison Wiener on piano and Robbie Link on bass. The House Concerts are $20 per person and space is limited; email Ann at aeocracoke@gmail.com to make a reservation.
Music at the Coyote Den! The Coyote Den is in the Community Square, and will host Martin Garrish and Friends "Playing Your Ocracoke Memories" every Friday night from March 25th – November 18th. More info at www.coyotemusic.net
Saturday, May 14th:
Play Ball! Ocracoke's own Little Leaguers, host home games! Watch the Blue Claws (1pm) and the Raptors (3pm) at Ocracoke Community Park (the Field of Dreams!) The concessions are great, too, so come out for lunch!
Sunday, May 15th:
Ocracoke Community Park is the place to be on Sunday afternoons. Come on out to join in Pick-Up Softball at 5pm. Fun and games!
