Ocracoke is on generator power. We just got this message (at 10:40am) from Tideland EMC:
This morning Hatteras & Ocracoke islands are on generator power while transmission work is done on Hatteras Island. We have just been notified by Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative that one of the diesel engines has gone down and electric loads are reaching maximum capacity. Island residents & businesses need to immediately conserve energy to avoid maxing out generato capacity which would lead to an outage.
