Check ahead before heading for ferry terminals. Windy and rainy conditions brought by a storm off the coast of the Outer Banks may cause a disruption to the ferry schedules in the area over the next several days.
Already some ferry runs between Ocracoke and Hatteras have been cancelled as water becomes too rough for travel.
It is strongly recommended that before heading to the ferry stations that passengers call ahead to see if the schedule for their route has been affected. Phone numbers for each ferry terminal can be found on the ferry division website by using the “Find a Ferry Terminal” menu. Travelers can also check the ferry division Twitter feed.
