But first, we have some meetings to attend:
Tuesday, May 19th:
Hyde County Schools superintendent Dr. Randolph Latimore will meet with parents and community members at the Ocracoke School Community Meeting at 5pm in the Ocracoke School commons.
At 6pm in the same location, the Hyde County Commissioners will hold a county budget workshop. This is when they could decide to re-fund the art program at Ocracoke School.
After the budget workshop, pop on over to the Ocracoke Library for Library Book Club at 7pm to discuss The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty. All are welcome – even if you haven't read the book! (Spoiler alert: you might find out what the secret is....)
Wednesday, May 20th:
Library Knitting Club at 6pm. Beginners welcome!
Saturday, May 23rd:
What we've all been waiting for: the 10th Annual Firemen's Ball! Come out for BBQ starting at 5pm (it always sells out), a silent auction from 5 – 6:30pm, the Live Auction at 7pm, and then music and dancing from 9 – Midnight! What a way to kick off the summer! Woooo!
Sunday, May 24th:
There's going to be a real, live mermaid sighting on Ocracoke! Mermaid Alexis and Nate the Pirate will be at Books to Be Red at 2:30pm for storytime and snacks!
Remember to check this page and/or the Ocracoke Current calendar for updates and additions to Current Events!
